Winter Learning Journey Day 7
Winter Learning Journey
Day 7, Activity 1
- Pick up the rubbish
- Help elderly's cross the road
- Ask people how their day is going.
Day 7, Activity 2
I like to sleep it relaxes me.
Day 7, Bonus Activity
The thing that I loved about the trip is learning about the country that we live in. The thing that I learned was that heaps of people tried to save the whales that were on the beach at farewell spit and that the whales are getting caught up in the fishing nets when people are fishing. The thing that I liked about the trip is seeing the scenery that New Zealand has.

Winter Learning Journey Day 6
Winter Learning Journey
Day 6, Activity 1
When the mist cleared, our waka saw the first sign of land. It was a spec in the distanced and as the elders paddled we got closer and closer. There was lots of green but more rocky. I felt really excited to find out this new country and the land but also very nervous what laid ahead.
Day 6, Activity 2
- Watch the Kapa Haka
- Watch Te Papa’s first Matariki ritual
- Listen to the Matauranga Maori knowledge and science panel discussion
Day 6, Bonus Activity
#1 All Blacks vs Argentina
#2 All Blacks vs France
#3 All Blacks vs South Africa
Winter Learning Journey Day 5
Winter Learning Journey
Day 5, Activity 1
I should have stayed with the group and Curious Kiwi. I have to stay the night because they won’t come back for me. I bet they won’t even notice that I am gone. I get my torch out of my bag and out a jacket over myself. At least I have packed some food for the walk if I got hungry. I went to sleep with my torch beside me so then I could see if anyone comes and so then if I wake up then I could use the torch. I heard some footsteps coming back. I heard Curious Kiwi’s voice so they did come back.
Day 5, Activity 2
Richie Mccaw was born on the 31 of December 1980. Richie Mccaw was born in Otago Oamaru. Richie Mccaw was famous because of him captaining the All Blacks for 110 out of his 148 test matches. Richie Mccaw played for the Crusaders and Canterbury. His debut has 2001 for the Crusaders and he was selected for the All Blacks in 2001.
Day 5, Bonus Activity
I think that it sounds fun because I really like to bike ride and I have been on the Karangahake gorge and we had lots of fun. Looking at the landscapes and there were more people doing it as well as us. At the start the was a big tunnel it was 2km long.
Winter Learning Journey Day 4
Winter Learning Journey
Day 4, Activity 1
The people tried to keep the whales wet, try and cover them, keep their blow holes clear and stay away from the tail. Freedom campers lend their towels, t-shirts and sarongs to drape over the whales. Everyone grabbed their chill bins, water bottles, cooking pots and mixing bowls to fill up with water.
Day 4, Activity 2
Whale rider is about a little girl that is in a kapa haka group at her school and when she went down to the beach she saw a whale and then she was looking after her. In the trailer someone dropped their shark tooth necklace and she dived in to get the necklace. I would rate the movie a 4 because it is sad but exciting at the same time.
Day 4, Bonus Activity
I think that fishing at Farewell spit should be banned because we don’t want these dolphins should be endangered because dolphins are fun to swim with and they do good entertainment to watch and we don’t want them to die. It is unfair for the dolphins to get stuck in fishing nets.
